There are likely hundreds of thousands if not millions of sports photos taken every day. While I was shooting standard press release photos for my job, I found that I wanted more from them. From a documentary perspective, they did the job. But buried within the photos was a bigger emotion than what runs in a press release. For these athletes, ball is life. The spend every day honing their craft and it reflects on their person. In the muscles of their arms and legs. The fluid and practiced motions. In the singular intensity of their eyes. The dedication they show to their craft and themselves shows through every movement and this is what I wanted to show with this project. I wanted to be able to show these brief, fleetingly beautiful moments what it is like when the art of the body and the art of photography meet each other.
